Originally conceived as a means to “ease a little pain” for those navigating the treacherous journey of addiction recovery, Bio-electrode Therapy (BeT) has transcended its humble beginnings. What has emerged is a therapy capable of relieving dozens of common pain conditions and alleviating the anguish of opioid withdrawal, offering a lifeline to those trapped in the throes of dependency.
The genesis of BeT is rooted in my own personal experience of having been raised in a large family tormented by addiction. I was driven by a need to heal myself, to understand the nature of addiction, and, later, by a strong desire to improve upon existing treatment approaches. In 1989, while employed at a detox center in Vancouver, BC, I travelled to Portland, Oregon to investigate an alternative approach to treating addictions. I was warmly received and introduced to the concept and practices of Harm Reduction and—oddly, I thought at the time—acupuncture for detox, a.k.a. the National Acupuncture Detox Association (NADA).
I embarked on a search for alternative and integrative medicine. Since I had travelled and lived in Asian countries for some years, my natural inclination was to seek solutions that resonated with both Eastern and Western paradigms. I studied with physicians and healers across the globe, drawing upon insights gleaned from these diverse cultural traditions.
What ultimately evolved from this fusion is a simple, non-invasive, and astonishingly effective approach to relieving acute withdrawal from abused substances as well as a myriad of complex pain syndromes. By applying electrodes to specific acupuncture points on the body’s electrical grid, also known as meridians, BeT is able to harness and direct the intricate microcurrents and electrical fields, restoring balance and promoting healing at a fundamental level.
What sets BeT apart is not only its efficacy but also its accessibility. It is a therapy that can be easily incorporated by individuals and institutions alike, offering a safe—and extremely cost-effective—solution to some of the most pressing challenges in healthcare today.
I invite you to try this therapy out, with my consultation and support, in your private practice. After seeing for yourself what BeT can accomplish, I ask you to consider becoming a part of an international team of practitioners, sharing information and observations in using this therapy in your work.
I am eager to collaborate with you in bringing this revolutionary approach to the forefront of healthcare and making a meaningful difference in the lives of countless individuals.
